Development Intern

The Development Intern supports the fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts of Cay Galgon Life House. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit development through a variety of projects, which may include donor database management, fundraising campaigns, communications, event support, donor stewardship, and research activities.

The intern will assist with maintaining accurate donor records in DonorPerfect, conducting outreach to update donor information, researching prospective donors and community partners, supporting special events and tours, and helping manage donor communications and acknowledgments. Responsibilities will vary based on organizational priorities, seasonal projects, and the intern's interests, skills, and availability. The following examples represent potential areas of involvement.

Examples of Potential Responsibilities

  • Assist with data entry, record maintenance, and donor database cleanup in DonorPerfect.
  • Make phone calls and send emails to verify and update donor, volunteer, and constituent information.
  • Conduct online research to identify prospective donors, sponsors, businesses, churches, and community partners.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, including donor stewardship and outreach activities.
  • Assist with Cay Galgon Life House’s Baby Bottle Campaign, including outreach to participating churches and organizations, tracking participation, maintaining campaign records, preparing materials, and helping process donations and campaign results.
  • Prepare thank-you letters, donor acknowledgments, and other stewardship communications.
  • Assist with planning and execution of fundraising events, community events, and organizational tours.
  • Assist with other development, fundraising, communications, and administrative projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • Current college student, recent graduate, or individual seeking experience in nonprofit fundraising and development.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Comfortable making professional phone calls and interacting with donors and community partners.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
  • Interest in nonprofit work, fundraising, communications, marketing, or community engagement.
