The Lehigh County Humane Society is in need of volunteers to help with a large renovation project. We are looking for artists to paint murals, people to help paint walls, clean up storage areas, individuals to make baked good and more!
As apartments are vacated, we have to clean and restock them for incoming residents.
When families move out of the shelter they are allowed to take sheets, pillows, blanket and other household items with them. As a volunteer it would be your duty to restock those items from our donation basement.
Assist our pastor and staff in serving communion to our residents at the in-house church service on the third Sunday of each month from 2:00-3:00. Our residents deeply appreciate this service. A short training will be provided.
Do you enjoy cooking and baking? So do our residents. Why not sign up for one of our weekly cooking/baking activities. It would only take about 1 hour of your time. Our residents love to share recipes and stories while making tasty treats.
Help our residents play games and have fun from 6:15-8:15 in the evenings. We have a regularly scheduled game night each week and need volunteers to escort our residents to the in-house games and to help them play. This is a great activity for everyone involved. Some games are: bingo, yahtzee, and casino type games to name a few. It's all about having fun.
Pleasure of Your Company Therapy (PoYC) dog handlers and their dogs visit residents monthly. Visits take place from 6 PM - 7 PM.
Contact PoYC to learn how you and your dog can become a register team and join us on this visit.

The Salvation Army CARES Program provides a unique volunteer opportunity for individuals who have a heart for children in foster care and/or children who have been adopted. Each child enrolled in the CARES Program is assigned their own personal buddy. The role of the buddy is to provide one-on-one positive nurturing interactions with a foster/adopted child during the organized Kids Connect Club Sessions which occur one evening a week. The buddy serves as a role model for behavior and provides a secure base for the child to explore social, attachment and sensory rich activities.
The buddy and child will be crafting, snacking, reading, and playing together as well as participating in group activities focused on learning life lessons such as "accepting no" and "listening and minding." Laughter and joy are utilized to promote a safe nurturing environment. This safety allows the child to learn, explore and create. Volunteers will become trained in Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), an evidenced based intervention to help children from “hard places” heal, regulate, connect, and succeed.
The TBRI Buddy will be responsible to facilitate a caring relationship with one child in the Kids Connect Club group with children who have experienced early childhood developmental trauma such as abuse or neglect. This intern will partner with other trained TBRI Professionals to facilitate fun, engaging and sensory rich activities for children once trained in TBRI. The intern will use evidence based research tools to measure children’s progress in the groups.
