The mission of Akua Career Academy is to provide technical training skills to the economically disadvantaged, the disabled and orphans in Ghana to become gainful employed. ACA will train students from the age of 13 to 25 in the following trade, constructions, home improvement, masonry, mechanic and food services. ACA will solicit the expertise of retired professionals to volunteer 5 hours a week to train the students. All the volunteers will be given meals for offering their time and experience. The training skills that the students will learn will meet the demands of Ghana market. Since most Ghanaians build their home, students who are trained in the construction fields will be able to either become self-employed or work with local small business owners. Under the supervision of the instructor, students will build apartments for the local Ghanaians to help decrease the number homeless. The mechanical shop of the school will also provide basic mechanical services such as oil change, car wash and brake work. Students who are involved in the food service training will sell breakfast, lunch and dinner to the public. The proceeds from these services will help pay for the operational cost of the technical school. Parents and guardians will be encouraged to provide sweat equity hours in place of paying tuition. The sweat hours will be offered to parents/ guardians with no financial means of contributing. Students will recruit students through local religious facilities and speak to local elders and leaders to identify those children who have needs that need to be addressed through education / hands-on training.
