Organization Profile

Allentown Rescue Mission

The Allentown Rescue Mission is the largest men’s shelter in the Lehigh Valley with a 66 bed walk-in emergency shelter and a 52 bed transitional Christian Living Program. Our mission statement is the "rescue, rehabilitation and restoration for people in crisis." Our goal is to end chronic homelessness by providing support to Guests as they work towards creating a healthy, safe and sustainable life. In 2016 the Mission provided 44,829 meals and 25,033 bed nights for homeless men in crisis. Projects of the Allentown Rescue Mission include: "The Clean Team" - teaching men transferable workplace skills. The goal for each Clean Team participant is more than just getting a job, it’s to be dependable entry level workers, and valued company employees. "Spoonful of Love" - a weekly Soup Kitchen open to the public on Sundays from 1 - 3, where men, women, and children can come to our facility on Hamilton Street, to receive a hot meal to go. Annual Special Events: October's WAEB Spaghetti Dinner, November's Thanks for Giving Food & Supply Drive, April's Gala Celebrating Lives Changed
