Are You Looking for Meaningful Board of Directors Involvement?
Since 1978, the Food Bank has been serving food insecure and nutritionally compromised individuals and families in Lehigh County. Each month, we serve hundreds of food insecure families through our Client Choice Pantry, and deliver food to eligible residents of selected senior living facilities through our Elderly Food Program. Using our pantry, clients are given choices of meat, dairy, canned goods, fresh produce, and personal care items. The needs are great, but so are the rewards of providing relief to the hungry individuals and families we serve. Our Board members are actively involved in providing leadership and serving. Charting the course through strategic planning, making budgeting/fiduciary decisions, policy development, and resource development are typical responsibilities, as well as participating in occasional special events. Since many of our clients are Spanish-speaking and/or elderly, experience with those populations or community services would be especially valuable to the Food Bank. Experience or expertise in human resources, legal matters, and fundraising/capital campaigns are highly sought by the Food Bank. But most important is a willingness to help us succeed in our mission.
