Become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA)

Be the One Consistent Adult a Child Can Count On

Every child deserves someone who will listen, care, and speak up for their best interests.

Lehigh County CASA is seeking compassionate, dependable adults to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are involved in the dependency court system.

As a CASA volunteer, you will build a meaningful relationship with one child or sibling group, gather information about their needs, and make independent recommendations to the judge to help ensure they have the opportunity to grow up in a safe, permanent, and nurturing home.

You don't need a background in law or social work. We provide comprehensive training and ongoing support from professional staff.

What You'll Do

  • Visit your assigned child regularly.
  • Communicate with caregivers, teachers, medical providers, and case professionals.
  • Review records and gather information.
  • Advocate for the child's best interests in court through written reports.
  • Remain a consistent, caring adult throughout the life of the case.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 10-15 hours per month
  • A commitment to remain with your assigned child until the case is closed whenever possible
  • Flexible scheduling to fit your lifestyle

Training

Volunteers complete a comprehensive pre-service training program before being sworn in by a Lehigh County judge.

Qualifications

We are looking for adults who are:

  • At least 21 years old
  • Compassionate and reliable
  • Good listeners and effective communicators
  • Able to remain objective and professional
  • Willing to complete training and required background clearances

Why Volunteer?

A CASA volunteer may be the one consistent adult in a child's life during one of the most difficult times they will ever face. Your presence, advocacy, and commitment can help a child find safety, stability, and hope for the future.

If you're looking for a meaningful way to make a lasting difference in your community, we invite you to learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer.
