Why Your Help Matters

Camp Camelot is more than a summer program. It is a place where children living with serious illnesses or disabilities can experience the joy of childhood in a safe, welcoming community. For many families, Camp Camelot is one of the few places where their child can fully participate, make friends, and feel a sense of belonging. Volunteers make that possible. Your time helps create moments of independence, confidence, and connection that last long after camp ends.

Volunteer Requirements: Clearances and Eligibility

To ensure the safety and well-being of the children and families we serve, Camelot for Children requires background clearances for volunteers who interact with participants. These requirements follow Pennsylvania child safety guidelines and are standard for organizations serving youth.

If you are 18 years of age or older, three (3) free clearances are required:

  • Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Check
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance (or signed affidavit if you have lived in Pennsylvania continuously for the past 10 years)

These clearances help us maintain a safe, trusted environment for every child and family who walks through our doors.

Important to Know:

  • Clearances are provided at no cost for volunteers age 18 and older in Pennsylvania
  • You do not need to have clearances completed before expressing interest
  • Once submitted, most clearances remain valid for five years in Pennsylvania
