Weekend Volunteer Docent / Tour Guide
Step into history—and help others experience it.
The Museum of Indian Culture is seeking Weekend Volunteer Docents / Tour Guides to welcome visitors and bring our exhibits to life. This is more than greeting guests—you’ll help create meaningful, memorable experiences for children, families, and lifelong learners.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome and engage visitors as they explore the museum
- Share stories about Native American history, culture, and early Pennsylvania life
- Help guide guests through exhibits and answer questions
- Support an interactive learning environment for all ages and abilities
- Create a friendly, inclusive, and educational atmosphere

What We’re Looking For
- Friendly, outgoing, and comfortable speaking with the public
- Interest in history, culture, or education
- Willingness to learn and engage with visitors of all ages
Tour guides are currently needed Saturday and Sunday during open hours and able to volunteer at least one 6 hour shift per week. Great opportunity for communitee service hours, retired educators and internships for academic credit.
Tour guides must be able to:
- learn a body of information;
- enjoy speaking to groups;
- commit time to training and presentation.
Schedule & Commitment
- Saturdays or Sundays
- 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Minimum commitment of 3 consecutive months
