Opportunity Details
3D Printing Lab Volunteer
Objective: To help our Empower+ team maintain printers, assemble prints, and inventory and organize MakerCarts and lab materials.
Location: Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, Center Valley
Days/Times: 2-4 hours once a week, Mon – Fri between 8am-4pm
Responsibilities may include:
- “Post Processing” of prints to include removing support structures, sanding devices to smooth corners, and assembling prints with glue or other mechanical means amongst other related tasks.
- Quality Control: inspect finished items for structural integrity and aesthetic consistency.
- Filament Inventory: Weigh and record filaments to determine current inventory stock then report low stock or needs for ordering.
- Consumable Inventory: Take stock of items such as nuts and bolts, glue, etc that may need to be purchased.
- Stock Organization: maintain a clean and orderly lab and storage area
- Printer Maintenance: performing tasks such as cleaning printer feeder gears, tubing, hot ends, etc to maintain machine performance.
- Maintain MakerCarts: take supply inventory and organizing carts in the Rehab Hospital.
Qualifications:
- Ability to handle small hand and electric tooling and delicate parts.
- Comfortability wearing basic PPE (safety glasses, dust masks) and following safety protocols for sharp tools and sanding dust.
- Basic comfort using spreadsheets.
- Self-motivated, timely and reliable; independent and able to problem solve
- Flexibility and willingness to address changing demands or tasks.
- A passion for Good Shepherd’s work and mission.
