General Community Volunteer
Our volunteer opportunities usually entail attending community events. At these events we need help setting up our table of materials, tabling during the event and tearing down when it's all over. Tabling includes handing out free materials like stickers, lip balm, educational resources and, sometimes an interactive art activity for kids and families that stop by! Some of the events we attend are Family Day at Zoellner, Juneteenth, Pride, Lehigh Valley Children's Festival, Peepsfest and Wicked Plants Festival.
Some of the events we host ourselves are Be My Neighbor Day (which involves a chance to meet Daniel Tiger!), TeleBear's Fall Festival, and our Holiday Party! There are interactive stations at these events we need volunteers for. We do occasionally have opportunities at our station in Bethlehem where we have opportunities to help at check-in or usher people to seats if the event involves a screening or panel.
A fun position we have is being a TeleBear Actor! He is our station mascot that kids and families love to hug and high-five when he shows up! It is the perfect chance to perform and be silly. When requested, TeleBear also joins in the fun at some of the events we attend.
Each new volunteer must complete and submit a LVPM Volunteer Application (attached) which requires signatures on a volunteer agreement, confidentiality acknowledgment, and media release (optional) form. Also, since a lot of our opportunities oftentimes are around children, you must also obtain a free PA Criminal History Clearance certificate and free PA Child Abuse Clearance certificate.
