Cyberchance Volunteers and Mentors Needed

Cyberchance is a 501(c)3, partnered with Google, dedicated to empowering at-risk, underrepresented, and justice-impacted individuals by providing comprehensive cybersecurity training, mentorship, and career development opportunities. We aim to bridge the digital divide and create pathways to success by equipping our participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity field. Through our holistic approach, we strive to break down barriers, promote inclusivity, and foster a community that champions second chances. By leveraging the transformative power of cybersecurity, we are committed to building a safer and more equitable future for all.

Here is how it works. We have partnered with Google to provide participants with access to Google's Cybersecurity Certification Program. Participants are required to take the course through Coursera. Participants have access to a Discord group that consists of volunteers and mentors who are there to assist them and help them succeed in the Cybersecurity Certification program. We will also provide training on soft skills, such as career building, public speaking, team building, leadership, etc. We provide support and mentorship while they are achieving industry-recognized cybersecurity certifications. We prepare them for a career in cybersecurity. We help them write their resume, apply for jobs, and perform mock interviews while providing them with networking opportunities and potentially internships and careers.

We are actively looking for volunteers and mentors who can assist with the Cyberchance program. Volunteers are needed for numerous tasks such as moderating Discord group conversations and participating in Zoom meetings. assisting with email and social media communications, and more. No specific skill set is required for volunteers. We are also looking for mentors. Mentors can be skilled in cybersecurity, career and resume skills.
