Create Art for Residents at the Sixth Street Shelter!

Volunteers are needed to spruce up the walls of apartments at the Sixth Street Shelter!

We are seeking two‐dimensional artwork that is ready to hang, in sizes between 10 to 24 inches in height/width. These could be square, rectangular, or even oval, and could be created using the artist’s choice of media: acrylic paint, watercolor, oil paint, pastels, colored pencil, etc. and created in your own home!

We suggest subject matter that is uplifting and cheerful, but it could also be abstract. Feel free to include inspirational quotes or words, the sky’s the limit!

The Sixth Street Shelter has 25 apartments, so we would ideally like to have 25 pieces of artwork to hang, but we would gladly accept up to 50. Every piece does not need to be unique, but it would be nice to have a variety of 4‐6 different designs.

If you’re looking for inspiration, search for “easy instructional painting” videos on YouTube. Here is an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5MidxCx67I.

Painting can be a therapeutic activity, we hope volunteers enjoy working on this project as much as our residents enjoy the results.

Volunteering group is expected to provide all materials and deliver art to the Shelter when it is completed. Thank you!
