Classroom Tutor - Adult Basic Education
The NCC Center for College and Career Readiness program helps adults transform their lives through literacy education. Program goals include strengthening students' basic education or English Language skills to support their successful transition to postsecondary education, job training, and career-path employment opportunities.
The Center's Volunteer Classroom Tutors are integral to helping the students reach their goals. Volunteer tutors support student learning by assisting classroom instructors in Adult Basic Education, GED® test preparation, and English as a Second Language classes.
Classroom tutors must have a minimum of a High School diploma and have good reading, writing, and speaking skills in English. Previous teaching or tutoring experience is a plus, but not required. Before tutoring, all volunteers are required to attend a Tutor Orientation.
