50th Anniversary Volunteer Committee

50th Anniversary Overview

Founded in October of 1971, BBBSLV is part of a national organization whose mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. BBBSLV will mark its 50th anniversary in 2021 with a year-long schedule of activity to celebrate the depth and breadth of the agency’s impact in the community over the past five decades. We are looking for a volunteer who could help with the below tasks for a few hours a week. This volunteer opportunity can be completed virtually or in-person at our office location in Allentown, Pa.

50th Anniversary Goals

  1. Fundraising: Leverage the anniversary to increase our cash reserves and unrestricted revenue streams.
  2. Branding & Marketing: Strengthen and differentiate the BBBS brand within the community through dynamic marketing and storytelling.
  3. Broaden Our Base: Expand the scope of our relationships for future fundraising and volunteer recruitment through a dedicated research and community outreach effort.

 

Research and Outreach Strategies

  1. Establish a well-rounded Community Research and Outreach Committee dedicated to uncovering and engaging those who’ve touched the organization over the last 50 years.
  2. Develop a compelling value proposition for engagement.
  3. Create a sense of community between those brought back into the fold and those currently in it.
  4. Enhance our corporate reach by identifying Bigs in Business (alumni & current).
  5. Broaden our individual base by re-engaging former Bigs, Littles, and Board Members, etc.
  6. Engage current BIGS and formulate a way to include them in the celebration.
  7. Steward those we can gather over the course of the year.

 

Research and Outreach Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Conduct extensive research for each subset  
    • Bigs in Business
    • Alumni Bigs & Littles
    • Alumni Board Members
    • “Founding Fathers”
  2. Develop creative strategies for re-engagement (Ex. form on our website)
  3. Create a system for outreach and tracking
  4. Establish methods to create a sense of community
  5. Research program impact over last 50 years  
    • National filings
    • Past board packets and minutes
