Volunteer Usher - Yearly/Ongoing
Looking for a fun and engaging activity with friends, why not become a Zoellner Arts Center volunteer usher! Volunteers are vital to our programs (in fact, they dedicate over 7000 hours a year each season to Zoellner).
Zoellner is the home of the Lehigh University Music and Theatre Departments, the Presenting Series, and Art Galleries. It hosts over 250 events a year including many student club activities, as well as, campus and community events. The Presenting Series has brought a wide array of multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural performances to Baker Hall's stage, including Tony Bennett, Yo-Yo Ma, John Lithgow, the New York Philharmonic, Itzhak Perlman, Boz Scaggs, Bobby McFerrin, Cirque Eloize and Momix. Over 50,000 people are welcomed through its doors each year.
Our ushers volunteer on a show-to-show basis, mostly nights and weekends. Responsibilities include greeting patrons, scanning tickets, assisting patrons to their seats, and being trained on the center's safety and evacuation protocols. There will be standing for extended periods of time (1-2hrs), and the ability to move freely up and down stairs is preferred. (Accommodations can be made as needed) A black and white dress code is required for all of our ushers, a nametag will be provided, and we ask that you bring a small flashlight if possible to keep with you for the shift.
Qualifications:
- Available to work at least 5 events a season - time commitment 1-5hrs depending on event.
- Use of email for 95% of all communication- including: onboarding, scheduling, shift call times, etc.

- Opportunity to watch part or all of each event you work- ticket value of $20-$100
- Qualified volunteers (those who have worked 5+ events per season) will recieve an invitation to your year-end Volunteer Appreciation event with the new season preview.
- Recieve a volunteer discounted rate at the Ticket Office. All Lehigh University Music Dept. and Theatre Dept. tickets are only $5 for you and all your friends.
- As a volunteer you will be issued a LU ZAC parking pass (renewable annually) for free parking in the Zoellner Garage on nights and weekends. (You must have your own transportation)
