Gardening in Historic Bethlehem
If you have a passion for gardening and love getting your hands dirty, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Gardeners at Historic Bethlehem Sites help to grow and maintain a wide variety of flora. Volunteers garden at three Historic Bethlehem gardens: the vegetable garden at Burnside Plantation, the apothecary herb garden behind the Moravian Bookshop, and the flower garden at the Goundie House.
Key Responsibilities:
- Planting
- Weeding
- Trimming
- General care and maintenance of flora and beds
Garden volunteers will report to the Director of Operatiions.
A minimum commitment of two (1-3 hour) shifts per month is required. Shift scheduling is very flexible. If the listed opportunities do not suit your schedule, please reach out to the Director of Visitor Services and Community Outreach to create a schedule that works for you.
Volunteers must be able to sit, stand, bend, kneel, twist, and lift up to 30lbs. Volunteers should have a prior knowledge of gardening, and be willing to split their volunteer time between the different gardens.
Training will be provided and the Director of Operations will be availbe for questions and assistance.
Gardens are located at:
- The Goundie House, 501 Main St.
- Burnside Plantation, 1461 Schoenersville Rd.
- Apotecary Garden located behind the Moravian Bookshop
