Literacy Tutor - Volunteer Instructor
Help adult students to strengthen their literacy skills and improve their lives through education. Become a Volunteer Literacy Instructor!
A Volunteer Literacy Instructor will support student learning by leading a small group of adult learners to improve their basic skills in math and language arts, or GED® topics. Opportunities to tutor students one-to-one may also be available.
Volunteer Literacy Instructors will:

Have a 4-year degree (any discipline)

Have prior teaching or tutoring experience

Be comfortable independently tutoring students one-to-one or leading a small group of learners, including preparing instructional materials, and presenting instruction to students.

Attend a Volunteer Tutor Orientation workshop, which includes an overview of our program, information about the purpose and intent of adult basic education, and volunteer opportunities in our program. Participants will also complete required paperwork.

Attend subsequent tutor trainings (instructional meetings) prior to tutoring students

Participate in professional development opportunities
All volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Tutor Orientation before tutoring. The next Volunteer Tutor Orientation will be scheduled for summer 2018.
