Paint with a Purpose at Valley Youth House's Lehigh Valley Shelter
Paint with a Purpose at Valley Youth House's Lehigh Valley Shelter. This site is a 24 hours-365 days a year 12 bed emergency shelter for youth ages 12-17. VYH's Lehigh Valley Shelter utilizes an individualized, brief counseling and crisis intervention model within a Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework. Services are provided by a culturally competent and diverse group of counselors and therapists. Services include case management, individual, family and group counseling, life skills education, adventure-based experiential education and recreational activities, and therapeutic follow-up and aftercare services.
With average stays being 21 days, 176 youth lived at the shelter last year. Due to the high frequency of use, the shelter is in need of volunteers to paint the bathrooms, bed frames, and shelves. This will refresh the space and create a more comfortable, enjoyable living environment for the youth during their stay at our shelter. Additional projects at the shelter could include yard clean-up.
Project will occur at a secure location in Bethlehem. Directions will be offered after a team successfully registers for the project.
