Equi-librium Volunteer 2020
Have you ever wanted to use your love for horses to give back to others in your community? Or maybe it’s not the horse part that intrigues you, but maybe you want to be apart of something bigger - like helping an individual walk or talk for the first time!
At Equi-librium, we do just that. Equi-librium is a Therapeutic Horseback Riding Center that focuses on helping individuals with special needs reach their highest potential. We have many different volunteer opportunities here. The opportunities directly related to our program would be a Side Helper and a Horse Leader. A Side Helper is directly involved in the lesson, walking alongside the horse and helping the rider reach their goals. The Horse Leader is getting the horse ready (grooming and tacking) and then leading the horse during the lesson. We have everyone start with a foundational training where they become a Side Helper and then a separate training for being a Horse Leader if you wish.
Due to COVID and the inability to recruit and train new volunteers over the last few months, we are in desperate need of volunteers in order to have our Fall Session which started September 8th. We are holding a volunteer training on October 3rd for those who want to be a part of the miracles that happen at Equi-librium because of our horses.
