| What is a Volunteer
Center? Volunteer Center is a generic term for a nonprofit organization whose primary mission is to promote volunteering in the community it serves. There are more than 380 local Volunteer Centers in communities across the United States. Each Volunteer Center is governed by a volunteer board or committee. They are funded by their local communities. Some receive funding from their local United Way. Volunteer Centers carry out their role in their local community by:

Volunteer Centers of Pennsylvania (VCP) Volunteer Centers of Pennsylvania is one of the five partners of the Keystone Service Coalition responsible for the Pennsylvania Unified State Plan for Volunteerism and Citizen Community Service. VCP works closely with PennSERVE, the Governor's Office of Citizen Service. Volunteer Centers of Pennsylvania is part of the nation-wide network of more than 380 Volunteer Centers that works in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation to mobilize people and other resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems. |
